Nov 11 – A Day to Honor Those Who Have Served

Friends, Monday, November 11, is Veterans Day, a time to honor all of those who have worn the uniform of one of the armed services and dedicated themselves to defending our nation and our way of life. As part of a family with a long military tradition, I know how much it means to those who have served that we pause in our daily lives to express our respect and gratitude. California has the second largest population of veterans of any state and San Diego has the second largest veteran population of all the cities in the state. That is why it is extremely important to me to advocate legislative policy that makes the transition to civilian life as easy as possible for those leaving the service. I am pleased to report to you that the State Legislature was able to enact the following measures this year: Military Preventing Homelessness Among Veterans: I was proud to be a principal co-author of Assembly Speaker John A.
