Read all the Democratic Club News From Across the County

Following a great suggestion by Maureen Sweeney from the Rancho Santa Fe club, Ruth Rollins, Director of the Council of Clubs, recently commissioned a website that aggregates news and events from all of the Democratic clubs across the county. It also enables you keep up to date with upcoming events that interest you. http://sdcdpclubs.org Presently there are eleven clubs that are providing updates, and Ruth hopes to have more added in the near future. Chula Vista Coronado Dems for Equality East County Escondido Lake San Marcos Pacific Beach Point Loma Rancho Santa Fe Uptown Young Democrats Ruth is also working with the clubs to encourage them to update their websites to the same technology that is used by the Point Loma Democratic Club. So far Chula Vista, Pacific Beach, Uptown and the Veterans clubs are in the process of upgrading their sites. As well as bringing improvements for each club, the changes will facilitate easier sharing of news items between the clubs. Related articles Nancy Witt – Volunteer of the Year! Greetings From Our New Prez!

It is with much humility that I step into the shoes of the inimitable Ruth Rollins, as your new Point Loma Democratic Club president. She’s going to be a very tough act to follow. It’s been fortunate that I’ve been following Ruth around for the last six months in her special training program for deer-in-the-headlights greenhorns. Your newly elected club officers have been working hard to hammer out a team approach to the running of your club because it belongs to all of us. Let us know what you like, when we do something you like, and let us know what you don’t like. We need to hear from you. We also need to have the stragglers pay up on their dues. It’s an indication of how well we’re doing and the value that we bring to you. We’re all volunteers so encourage us and give us a pat on the back by picking up your pen, writing out that check and mailing it to: The Point Loma Democratic Club PO Box 7802 San Diego, …

Feb 24 – Suggestions for Resolutions for State Democratic Convention in April

2012 was a phenomenal year for Democrats in California. Not only did we re-elect President Obama and Senator Feinstein, we picked up six additional Congressional seats and won a supermajority in both houses of the state legislature – a feat which the Party last accomplished in 1882! But there’s much more work to be done here in California. From April 12-14 Delegates to the 2013 California Democrats State Convention will be meeting in Sacramento including our Club members Suzie Ditmars , Gail Mackler, Susan Peinado, Ruth Rollins, Michael McQuary, Michael Thomason and Lawrence Zynda. This is our chance to help build a stronger and more effective Party. Our Delegates will represent the District and keep us apprised of information, direction and education. Our members are planning to bring home what they learn with a post-convention presentation to the Club. The convention begins the term for the 2013-2015 delegates. Party business for these delegates will include electing statewide party officers as well as adopting resolutions. We plan to discuss suggestions for resolutions at our Club meeting …
