Dec 8 – Annual Holiday Potluck

The annual Point Loma Democratic Club Holiday Potluck will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Rollins home and we’ll be joined by Congressman Scott Peters and Mayoral candidate David Alvarez. This is a great opportunity to meet our Representative, and the future Mayor of San Diego! Bring a dish to share and $5 or just yourself and $10, each. The club will provide the ham, turkey, wine and some soft drinks. We will be ready to check in at 3:30pm and will be ready to serve about 4:30pm. Come and enjoy the company of good Democrats. The election is only a couple of months away and David needs to raise millions of $$ to overcome the GOP, the downtown “Good Old Boys” and the Lincoln Club. We can not process credit cards for David and the club can not donate directly to him so please bring your checkbook and donate whatever you can to David Alvarez for Mayor. Thanks for helping get David elected. Remember to bring a (unwrapped) toy gift for …

Nov 24 – Monthly Meeting – Special Election Analysis

This month we’re attempting something new, a moderated discussion by journalists who are covering the Mayoral Special Election. The meeting will be just days after the results of the Primary are known and there will be a lot of speculation, and no doubt work for club members, in the run up to the run off. We invited a group of local journalists from the San Diego Free Press, The San Diego Voice and Viewpoint,  Union Tribune and other local news channels, who have been closely following the tactics and strategies of the various candidates as they compete for your vote. Our panelists will include Andy Cohen San Diego Free Press Andy spent 15 years working in the highest levels of the San Diego professional sports world, including both the Padres and the Chargers. He began his foray into writing while a volunteer for Francine Busby’s 2010 Congressional campaign, eventually becoming a contributor to the now defunct SDNN. He has reported on local and national politics for both the OB Rag and the San Diego Free Press. …
