Jun 22 – 40th Annual OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off

It’s June, the start of the Presidential debates (June 26 and 27). We don’t have our regular meeting at the Point Loma Assembly this month, instead we have it at the OB Street Fair! We have to start registering voters and firing up San Diegans to pay attention and get rid of this administration. We’ll engage with voters, learn their issues and understand who they want us to back in upcoming elections. Remember, the California Primary is in March and vote by mail ballots will drop in February 2020! If you want to volunteer to learn the issues, walk your precinct, get involved and contribute, come see us at the Street Fair, and bring your friends, family, pets, anyone who wants to make America smart again. Details of the Street Fair are available here. The fair runs from 10am – 8pm with lots of events for all the family.

Jun 23 – OB Street Fair – The Start of the 2018 Elections

It’s June. That means that we don’t have our regular meeting at the Point Loma Assembly instead we have it at the OB Street Fair. This is the start of our General Election work to elect Democratic candidates for District 2, and across the city and county. Don’t sit home and think of it as a month off from our regular political meetings, think of it as a chance to meet voters and ask them what they’re concerned about. What are the issues that will get them out to vote? Are they spurred into action by the abuses of children whose parents are fleeing violence at home? Or are they concerned about the local environment, or short term vacation rentals?  Are they up in arms over affordable housing development in Point Loma, or the proliferation of brightly colored bicycles? As well as enjoying political conversations at the booth, you’ll get the chance to sample the delights of the fair. Four Stages Of Continuous Music – here’s the line up Chili Cook-Off – starts at 11:00 …

OB Street Fair 2015 [Video]

Thanks to everyone who came along and said hello at the OB Street Fair on Saturday, as well as those who staffed the booth including members of the Veterans Democratic Club and Democratic Woman’s Club. Madame Speaker Toni Atkins, Todd Gloria (www.toddgloriaforassembly.com) and José Caballero (www.Jose4sd.com) all stopped by. We welcomed supporters of AB700 who gathered petitions to let voters know who really is paying for political ads — on the ads themselves. If you didn’t make it to the Fair you can sign their petition online. Supporters of the Neighborhoods for Clean Elections also distributed information and gathered support. The weather was kind, the crowds large, we registered over 20 new voters and from early morning until  the evening the constant refrain from passers by was – this was a great week for Democrats! The Supreme Court’s judgements on the Affordable Care Act, fair housing and gay marriage showed the importance of Democratic appointments to the court and the President’s eulogy for slain Pastor Clementa Pinckney was universally appreciated.
