Notes from April Meeting – Medical Marijuana – The Current State of Policy and Access in San Diego

The meeting got underway just after 4pm with club president Susan Peinado welcoming and introducing guests Dave Shermer and Doug Porter together with new members Thermon Hampton, and Angie Lake, and new patron member Eduardo Valerio. She then introduced Rafael Castellanos, Port Commissioner and candidate for San Diego City Attorney. He provided an overview of his background and candidacy. Susan also congratulated Andrew Waltz on receiving an award for his new video Sustained San Diego. Program: Medical Marijuana – the Current State of Policy and Access in San Diego Susan welcomed and introduced the moderator for the panel Cynara Velasquez, who in turn introduced the panelists: Terrie Best, San Diego Chapter of Americans for Safe Access; Alex Kreit, Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Law and Social Justice at Thomas Jefferson School of Law; Ebon Johnson, Director of the Green Nectar Dispensary. Cynara provided a historical overview and context on medical marijuana and access in San Diego. Apr 26 – Monthly Meeting – Medical Marijuana – The Current State of Policy and Access in San Diego

Join us as we learn more about the current state of medical marijuana regulation in California, and how marijuana access is being implemented in San Diego City, as well as the current state of medical marijuana collective licensing in City Council District 2. Our round table presentation will include patient advocates, legal experts and a representative of one of the first medical marijuana collectives to be licensed in the City of San Diego, right here in District 2. Terrie Best Terrie Best is the current chair of the San Diego Chapter of Americans for Safe Access, the local chapter of the largest national member-based organization of patients, medical professionals, scientists and concerned citizens promoting safe and legal access to cannabis for therapeutic use and research.
