January 26 – General Meeting – Ballot Rundown, Propositions & Measures – with Anne and Cody


Election time is fast approaching! March 3, 2020 is the Presidential Primary.

Vote by mail ballots have already been sent to military and overseas voters. San Diego mail ballots will start arriving after February 3, 2020. We’re planning a GO Team kick-off for volunteers in Point Loma, Ocean Beach and Midway the first weekend in February. The voter registration deadline is February 18, 2020.

This Sunday January 26th at our General Meeting we’ll be talking through the Propositions and Ballot Measures.

To help us understand the State Propositions and Local Ballot Measures we are pleased to welcome back guest speakers Anne Hoiberg and Cody Petterson, who will explain the pros and cons and field questions from members.

Bring your sample ballots or voter guides with you and check off your decisions as we go along. Feel free to invite friends and neighbors who are looking for some partisan Democratic guidance.

Speakers

Anne Hoiberg is on the board of directors of the Women’s Museum of California, a writer, speaker and research psychologist, Anne has written and presented extensively on women’s health, women in the military, domestic violence, alcohol abuse, health promotion, workman’s compensation cost containment, stress related disease and role of military in society. Anne is a member of the Point Loma Democratic Club.

Cody Petterson is the President of the San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action, and Director of the Sequoia Foundation, a non-profit social science research firm dedicated to impact assessment, climate mitigation, and community resilience. He is also a member of the San Diego County Democratic Party Central Committee. His polemical and conservation writing can be found on Medium and Instagram, under the handle @theguessworker. After the meeting ends we suggest adjourning to the Point Break Cafe at 2743 Shelter Island Dr to continue our progressive conversation. Happy Hour is until 6:30pm.
