Oct 25 – Monthly Meeting – The Spirit of Service: America’s Veterans and the Obligation We All Share

Nathan Fletcher is the featured speaker at our October meeting discussing veterans affairs and the work of his foundation, the Three Wise Men.

The Three Wise Men Foundation exists to raise awareness of the problems our veterans face and raise funds that provide needed transition programs to ensure our veterans have the services they need to succeed when their military service ends.

Previously, Nathan represented San Diego in the California State Assembly. During his time in office, he served as Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Jobs in the New Economy and was a leading advocate for repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. He also authored the landmark public safety legislation “Chelsea’s Law,” which imposed tougher penalties on the worst child predators in California.

Before his election to the legislature, Nathan served in the United States Marine Corps and was recognized for valor in combat. He is the Chairman of the Three Wise Men Foundation, a veteran-focused organization he founded in memory of his friends and family killed in action in Afghanistan. Nathan has also worked with international non-governmental organizations to build democratic institutions in countries including East Timor, Cambodia, Serbia, and Myanmar.

Nathan is a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Human Rights, a Kauffman Fellow, and a member of the national advisory boards for both Organizing for Action and the Truman National Security Project.
