Overview of Accomplishments and Engagement
Since taking office last April, I have been working on quality of life issues and promoting community engagement. Below are some of the highlights of that work:
Community Engagement
Attended 67 community meetings and events
Hosted six community meetings in Bay Park, Point Loma, Bay Ho, Moraga, and Linda Vista on issues of homelessness, traffic calming, parking districts, and proposed development
Hosted five community coffees/desserts
Quality of Life
Opened the Edward Tyler Cramer Park in Linda Vista
Installed pedestrian safety upgrades in Point Loma and Ocean Beach
Approved a budget for Fiscal Year 2015 that includes funding for Council District Two projects such as new street lights, a new Fire Station for Point Loma and the development of the Coastal Management Plan
Supported an increase for minimum wage earners
Worked to mitigate the fly population in Mission Beach
Passed the Ocean Beach Community Plan Update
Supported the Council action to amend the Workforce Housing Offset (“linkage fee”) to fund more affordable housing in San Diego
Advocated for more police officers and code compliance officers
Protecting the Environment
Brought forth a successful Council resolution in opposition to Assembly Bill 2145 so consumers could have choices when selecting energy providers
Supported the passage of Senate Bill 720 that phases out single-use plastic bags in California
Supported a Climate Action Plan for the City of San Diego
Supported mandatory water restrictions
