The California Democratic Council (CDC) Constitutional Convention is being held in San Luis Obispo on Feb 22.
This full day Constitutional Convention will address the re-organizational issues and related changes to the CDC Constitution. The purpose of the recommended changes is to restructure CDC to more effectively meet the 21st Century needs of our expanded membership and increase the number of affiliated Democratic Clubs and County Democratic Central Committees. CDC will also address the future committee structure of CDC and identify future CDC leaders, officers, and board members. The overall intent of the recommendations is to develop a structure that will:
- provide more effective oversight of CDC statewide functions
- allow for greater flexibility and support in the field
- thereby enhance Democratic Club development and membership empowerment
Following the Convention, there will be a 6-9pm Post Convention Banquet honoring outgoing President Henry Vandermier and his wife, Lori, a Democratic leader in her own right, who have guided CDC through a very difficult 4 years.
Club member Michael McQuary has announced his intention to run for President of CDC, which supports 235 local Dem Clubs and County Central Committees in California and 20,000 affiliated club members. Hopefully, he will have a strong contingent of CDC Delegates from San Diego County at the CDC Constitutional Convention and Banquet to honor the past accomplishments of CDC and to prepare for future challenges.
Register online. Registration fee is $10 for the Convention and $60 for the Post Convention Banquet.
The Pre-Registration Deadline is February 15, 2014.
