District 2 Seat to be Filled by City Council Appointment

Ed Harris

Ed Harris

The District 2 City Council seat vacated because of Faulconer’s election to mayor will be filled by a City Council appointment.

There is some interest in putting Ed Harris, our Point Loma lifeguard, up for this position. He could devote the 9 or 10 months to this position and will be a good place holder for Sarah Boot.

There has to be some way to undercut the help Laurie Zapp will get from the new Mayor. (Yes, I know that is not how to spell it, but that is what we will be if she gets elected to represent us, Zapped.)

Within thirty days of Faulconer being inaugurated, and because there is less than one year left on his term, the City Council must appoint a replacement who agrees not to run for election for the seat.

The council will hold a public hearing and listen to each potential candidate’s three minute pitch, review their application forms,  Statements of Economic Interest and qualifications. The council then votes on who to appoint.

    Ruth,

Yes, bring on Ed Harris. And would somebody somebody please, Zapp the Zapf!

Ruth, great thanks for the outstanding effort you have always given and continue doing, along with Susan Peinado, Mike Johnson, Gretchen Kinney Newsom, Nancy Witt, John Loughlin, Patrick Schultheis, Judi Curry and so many others whose untiring devotion keep the Point Loma Democratic Club, as Sinatra use to say, at the “top of the heap.”

  3. The Club should present a form now for members to electronically sign supporting Ed Harris to fill the council seat. Imperative this is done before the next council meeting of the 18th or 25th (at the latest)!!!

  5. It seems that the Registrar of Voters neglected to tell us that 36,000 votes remain to be counted because of mail-ins brought to precincts and conditionals. If Alvarez gets 82% or more-he wins the election!!! Can it happen? Yes! Remember the closeness of Scott Peters vs Bilbray when Peters won by 3,600 instead of only 700?? Keep informed!! Miracles happen when Democrats outnumber Reps on election day!
