The District 2 City Council seat vacated because of Faulconer’s election to mayor will be filled by a City Council appointment.
There is some interest in putting Ed Harris, our Point Loma lifeguard, up for this position. He could devote the 9 or 10 months to this position and will be a good place holder for Sarah Boot.
There has to be some way to undercut the help Laurie Zapp will get from the new Mayor. (Yes, I know that is not how to spell it, but that is what we will be if she gets elected to represent us, Zapped.)

Within thirty days of Faulconer being inaugurated, and because there is less than one year left on his term, the City Council must appoint a replacement who agrees not to run for election for the seat.
The council will hold a public hearing and listen to each potential candidate’s three minute pitch, review their application forms, Statements of Economic Interest and qualifications. The council then votes on who to appoint.
