Watch “60 Minutes” to see Point Loma resident Justin Brooks and the California Innocence Project as their work to free Brian Banks is highlighted.
Banks is the former Long Beach high school football standout falsely accused of the rape and kidnapping of a classmate. Earlier this year, California Western students and staff from the California Innocence Project helped clear his name, thanks to new evidence and more comprehensive investigatory work.
Banks played for the United Football League’s Las Vegas Locomotives shortly before the league disbanded earlier this year. He continues to train in the hopes of an invitation to play in the NFL, while working to promote the great work of the California Innocence Project.
CBS Sports’ James Brown speaks with Banks, his family, and Professor Justin Brooks (who spoke to the Club last year) about the case and what it says about our justice system.
