Israeli American author Miko Peled talks & takes Q & A at Protea Gallery this Saturday, February 23, 6.00-8:30 PM. This should be a lively event.
Miko Peled is the son of Matti Peled, one of the founders of the state of Israel. Miko recounts his family’s history and his own transformation after entering in dialogue with fellow San Diegans, and creating a foundation with Palestinian Nader El Banna, all in the last 12 years.
TEXTSCAPES a photo-based exhibit by Joyce Dallal, acts as a relevant backdrop to Peled’s talk. Dallal’s evocative pieces are made of texts from UN resolutions between Israel and Palestine, LA Times headlines from the Iraq War and her aunt’s writing of the Pledge of Allegiance in Judeo-Arabic, a language spoken and written by Baghdadi Jews.
This event is free and with a reception of refreshments (Menu: anise tea and other Middle Eastern treats).
Warmest regards,
Doris Bittar
