2012 was a phenomenal year for Democrats in California. Not only did we re-elect President Obama and Senator Feinstein, we picked up six additional Congressional seats and won a supermajority in both houses of the state legislature – a feat which the Party last accomplished in 1882!

But there’s much more work to be done here in California. From April 12-14 Delegates to the 2013 California Democrats State Convention will be meeting in Sacramento including our Club members Suzie Ditmars , Gail Mackler, Susan Peinado, Ruth Rollins, Michael McQuary, Michael Thomason and Lawrence Zynda.

This is our chance to help build a stronger and more effective Party. Our Delegates will represent the District and keep us apprised of information, direction and education. Our members are planning to bring home what they learn with a post-convention presentation to the Club.

The convention begins the term for the 2013-2015 delegates. Party business for these delegates will include electing statewide party officers as well as adopting resolutions. We plan to discuss suggestions for resolutions at our Club meeting on February 24 (and during the Social Time afterwards, no doubt) so come prepared to voice your opinions. Also take a look at Ruth Rollins’ suggestion for a Resolution on Identity Theft.

The 2013 Convention will be a jam-packed weekend with workshops, caucus and committee meetings, trainings, hospitality suites and special guest speakers. Click to read more about What our Delegates can Expect at the Convention.
