All registered Democrats in the 78th Assembly District are eligible to vote, and are strongly encouraged to attend. The Caucus will be electing 6 men and 6 women as delegates to the State Democratic Convention which meets in Sacramento April 12-14. The Caucus will also elect one member of the State Party Executive Committee.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? Registration is from 12-2pm. The candidates will give 1-minute speeches following. After all of the ballots are collected the Caucus ends. You do NOT need to stay for the entire time to vote, but can request your ballots for Delegate and Executive Board Representative upon your arrival and registration, cast your SECRET ballot(s), and leave.

Entrance to the AMC Multiplex is at the back of the shopping center, past Trader Joe’s, plenty of free parking. From the underground parking the AMC Movie Theater door entrance is the closest. The Community Room is just to the right of the AMC Theaters ticket booth (near the video arcade).

In order to vote in the ADEM, you must be a registered Democrat residing in the AD as of October 22, 2012 (unless turned 18 or naturalized after that date); and pay a $5 donation to defray the cost of the ADEM, or sign a form declaring that to pay the fee would constitute an economic hardship.
What CA Democratic Party Delegates do:
- Attend annual convention
- Network with other Democrats
- Represent his/her constituency
- Elect Party officers
- Promote the California Democratic Party agenda
- Endorse candidates for statewide, legislative and congressional office
- Vote to endorse resolutions and ballot measures
Every 2 years following the General Election, the CA Democratic Party reconstitutes its leadership through election and appointment of Members in the Democratic State Central Committee, also known as “Delegates”, from the following sources:
- Elected through County Committees
- Appointed by Democratic Elected Officials / Nominees
- Elected through Assembly Districts
The Assembly District Delegates (ADDs) and Assembly District Executive Board representatives (“EBd Reps”) are elected at Assembly District Election Meetings (ADEMs) held in each of the 80 Assembly Districts. The California Democratic Party is convening ADEMs on January 12 and 13, 2013, where 12 people (6 men / 6 women) from each Assembly District will be elected to represent their district for both the 2013 and 2014 State Conventions.
