Nancy Miller – a Democratic activist dedicated to justice

As a delegate to the California Democrats State Convention this year, Nancy Miller was determined to participate in a tough congressional campaign endorsement caucus, despite being weak from a recent surgery. Special arrangements were made for her to be driven to the front of the San Diego Convention Center and then be whisked upstairs in a borrowed wheelchair to cast her vote.

“This was not surprising to those who knew her,” said former Assemblywoman Lori Saldaña. “Nancy possessed uncommon strength and spirit and showed incredible determination to make this world a better place, especially through political activism.”

Ms. Miller died of a stroke on Sept. 29 in Phoenix, Ariz. She was 77.

The family suggests donations to Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation, 3020 Children’s Way, MC 5005, San Diego, CA 92123.
