Our fair city was disgraced on March 26 by a campaign appearance by almost certain Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. The headline read “Romney Trumpets Rush of Conservative Endorsements in San Diego”. Then Romney went on to Stockton for a fundraising event at the home of billionaire Alex Spanos, owner of the San Diego Chargers. With the Spanos family pushing Mitt Romney, Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers pushing Rick Santorum, and the Chargers continuing to feed at the public trough while the City is last in the State in per capita Fire Department funding, some Democrats are losing enthusiasm for Chargers football.
